Here Are Menorca's Top Attractions!

Each year we face the decision of where we want to escape too. There are just so many lovely holiday destinations to choose from, yet the Balearic Islands remain the most popular with Brits every year - and it’s no surprise why. Not only can you find cheap holiday deals here, but the islands boast beautiful landscapes, sandy beaches, warm blue sea, and lovely historical towns – what more could you want?

We highly recommend looking into cheap holidays to Menorca! If you’re looking for a romantic retreat, a family holiday or a more active time with friends, Menorca has many locations which will be able to suit your every requirement! Below we've highlighted some of the places you must visit if you’re off to Menorca this year!

The Beaches

Menorca is known for its many beautiful beaches, surrounded by deep crystal waters – making them the islands main attractions. Menorca claims more beaches than Ibiza and Majorca put together and most can be accessed very easily. However some require a boat trip! There are companies offering organised boat trips from resorts and harbours around the island to these beautiful beaches, passing hidden coves and giving you the perfect opportunity to view Menorca’s unique coastline.

There are a range of idyllic beaches to choose from including gorgeous isolated coves to the more popular long stretches of white sand.

Monte Toro

Monte Toro is located on Menorca's highest point in Es Mercadal. The legend says that a bull (el toro) found a statue of the Virgin in a cleft in the rock. However, the name is more likely to come from the Arabic, al-tor, meaning the highest mountain. For many, this site is an important place of pilgrimage, and the statue is quite an important figure.  The drive is a little nerve testing with steep winding roads, but the views from the top are breath - taking and allow you to view the islands beauty from the highest point!

Cova d’en Xoroi at Cala’n Porter

Cova d’en Xoroi in the beautiful location of Cala’n Porter is a fantastic bar with outside terraces, set within natural caves 25 metres above sea level. Enjoying a divine meal, whilst watching the beautiful Balearic sunset is one of the most extraordinary pleasures that the island has to offer, and will give you a truly memorable experience.  By night the caves turn into a fabulous nightclub, offering many live performances and great music!

Port de Maó

The port in Mahon is one of the most impressive natural harbours in the Mediterranean. The harbour front is lined with restaurants, bars and popular boutiques and has become an idyllic setting - perfect for a relaxed evening. Take a trip here under the evening sunset and admire the million pound yachts, along with some great food and a drink or two!

You can also take a trip on a glass bottom boat that runs regular trips throughout the day. You will see some fascinating landmarks and will be given an insight into some of Menorca’s history as well as seeing some wonderful underwater views!

Naveta des Tudons

Menorca has many prehistoric monuments scattered in various different locations around the island. Naveta des Tudons  is located west of the island, roughly 3 miles out from Ciutadella.  This building is considered to be one of the most symbolic archaeological remains on Menorca and is most famous in the whole of the Balearics!

The construction is 3000 years old and was used as a collective funeral monument. Unfortunately, the inside of the building is not open to public visitors for preservation reasons, but you are free to explore around the site. The age of this site makes it a fascinating place to visit and is definitely worth the trip!

So what are you waiting for? Treat yourself and family with a holiday to this beautiful island and explore all of these popular attractions! Get comparing the best deals to this location now by paying us a visit: www.comparediscountholidays.com
